1.1 Discussion Page: "creepy tree house"

Directions: Click on the question page below and then the discussion tab at the top of the page. Start a new thread for each discreet post you make, reply to other class members' post by clicking on their discreet post, and reply to those who reply to your posts. Thus the discussions will act more like a traditional bulletin board.

Note: Last week's discussion brought up these issues for me (please make a new page and add your own questions for discussion)

Questions:

1. What is the teacher's role in (esp. in an online writing class) the college classroom? Is s/he a "dispenser of knowledge" or a facilitator that enables student's learning? Or is s/he a combination of both. In any case how does his/her role play out in an online (writing) course?

2. What are the stakes for (online) learning when privacy gets "tangled up" in creating community? In other words, it has been suggested by experts that we learn better together--collaboratively--so what are the risks and benefits of such learning?

3. What are you really loosing when it comes to your privacy with an on-line community? All this talk about privacy I would like to know how this is damaging to you. klculbre
